"We are not here to tell you what to do ... but to help you arrive there in an aha moment!"
- Audrey Roach-Slivinski MSW, LCSW - Owner & Clinical Director
We all struggle in life and have more in common than different. Acceptance and Coping skills are needed to navigate through life's peaks and valleys. My passion is assisting children, adolescents and adults in finding their way beginning wherever they are.
For over 16 years I have been professionally helping others find their way. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker working across the country from NY, CT, WY, ID, MT, OR and now my hometown of the Beaches of Jacksonville, Florida. Accumulating a wealth of knowledge through life experience and understanding of people from all walks of life. Clinically trained at New York University where I obtained my MSW. Craving more knowledge to increase effectiveness, I continued my intensive training, receiving a post graduate certificate in Clinical Social Worker from Yale Medical School - Child Study Center. Further intensive trainings in Dialectical Behavior Therapy by Marsha Linehan, PhD and Dr. Charles Swenson, DBT-PE w/ Melanie Harned, PhD, Family DBT w/Dr. Alan Fruzzetti, DBT-C w/ Francheska Perepletchikova, PhD also completing Behavior Therapy Training Institutes (BTTI) Cognitive Behavior Therapy & ERP and SPACE (Supportive Parenting of Anxious Childhood Emotions Treatment w/ Eli Lebowitz, PhD certificates. I am able to bring evidence based treatment + proven methods to best help children, adolescent and families regulate their emotions, behaviors and lives.
My ideology and approach is strengths based, intensively trained in DBT, DBT-C, DBT-PE, SPACE, ACT & CBT, EMDR, mindfulness, positive restructuring and client focused.
Vulnerability is a life necessity as scary and taboo as it is for many. It is the common denominator that makes us all human. In order to develop closeness we have to take a chance and allow others in ... we need to be vulnerable. A lot of us have been conditioned in life from an early age to build a wall, not to share with others, keep people at a distance, put on a brave face, pull ourselves up by our bootstraps, don't ask for help, don't cry in front of others; basically do not show weakness, don't show vulnerability. What a lonely life that can create in our hour of need. It is not healthy to close ourselves off from others and try to figure everything out on our own. This opens the door to a lot of maladaptive behaviors such as addiction, self harm, depression, anxiety, social phobia, abuse on varied forms and levels. Vulnerability=Humanness and that is the one thing that connects us all. My goal is to assist others in all life stages with improving their life, building their tribe of supportive people, eliminating the negative chatter, helping establish boundaries with the negative forces in our lives and finding their truth.
I am grateful to have worked with so many populations and economic situations coast to coast. I've provided mental health services in private settings and public, the great outdoors, inner cities, Native American Reservations, schools, hospitals, clinics as well as in an office in the burbs. I have learned we are all human and struggle is a part of our DNA. It is how we view our world regardless of the circumstances that predicts our joy in life. However you are feeling is valid and learning to self-validate is an essential skill towards building your life worth living.
Let the journey begin. Namaste.

Julie Clifford Smith, LMHC
DBT & EMDR Therapist
"I am so grateful for the opportunity to help you reach your goals and live the life you want. Life can be very challenging at times. So often our desire to get rid of unwanted feelings leads us to engage in behaviors that only leave us feeling worse. I would love to help you find more effective ways to cope with life’s difficulties and build a life you feel proud of. I am passionate about helping people learn to be more comfortable with themselves and with their emotions, learn effective ways to manage and express their emotions, and work through past difficult and traumatic events. I believe we all possess an inner wisdom that, once uncovered, can guide us in making the choices that are best for us.
I grew up in Latin America and moved to the US to complete college. I obtained my Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of South Dakota in 2008, and since then, have worked in both inpatient and outpatient facilities, working with tweens, teens and adults with mental health and substance use disorders. My desire to be as helpful as possible to my clients has led me to pursue specialized training in DBT, CBT, and EMDR, and to become a Certified Addictions Professional (CAP). I have experience using these modalities in both inpatient and outpatient settings and it brings me immense joy to see the progress people make when we work together. I look forward to meeting you and to being a part of your journey."
So happy to have Julie part of our DBT consultation team and practice. She is accepting new clients.
Julie is considered out of network for most insurances with the exception of Aetna. Superbills are provided for any out of network reimbursement your plan has available to you.
